It's helpful advice if you're not a fan of the more commonly seen rectangular shaped tanks - keep this in mind as you shop. Because of the added weight of both glass and acrylic tanks, it's important that you purchase a strong enough stand that's able to support the full aquarium; however, with an acrylic tank it is essential to have a stand which will completely support the entire bottom of the tank. Otherwise, they can start to pull away after a while.
If you're more into the visual aspect of your fish tank, pet owners like yourself oftentimes go for the glass tanks over the acrylic tanks due to their immunity to scratching. Acrylic tanks tend to scratch easily and discolor over a long period of time giving it a slight yellow touch. So if you're planning on raising fish for a long time, when selecting the correct material for your tank, glass will give you the most bang for your buck.
